There are many different types of bridges. More specifically, there are many types of truss bridges. One popular truss bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge, which is located in San Francisco, California. This bridge is a Warren deck truss bridge because of the equal size of the diagonals and to contain both tension and compression (Types of bridges) and it has a Suspension, fixed and approach Spans because of the metal braced ribbed deck arch.(Golden Gate Bridge). Some other important features of this bridge are steel girders are which were used to strengthen and add support to the bridge 's roadway. This bridge had, engineering, economic, political and geological setbacks, these problems almost stopped the project before it even started. But it was connecting utility and function with esthetics.(Golden Route to Success) It had terrible weather conditions and it was dangerous for some construction workers to build anything. While building the bridge an important thing to consider was the earthquakes. Another problem was California 's dangerous San Andreas Fault, which went from north to south through the Bay area.(The Golden Gate Bridge and its Environment) Earthquakes were also something to consider because when making this bridge, earthquakes, could of cause the bridge to collapse or cause damage. Building this bridge was also very difficult because San Francisco’s climate because in summer, the Golden Gate was often submersed in the chilly, gloomy fog that went through the strait, which was the largest and lowest of the gaps in the coastal range. Even though building this bridge caused many problems by concerns of safety and time management, it was eventually built and all that hard work was worth it. There are a lot of interesting things about the Golden Gate Bridge such as it used to be called “the bridge that couldn’t be built “. Also it is known as one of the seven wonders of the world. And it opened in 1937 and it was a struggle to build because the weather was always a big problem and was getting in the way of construction.
