The Glass Sword Book Summary

The book Glass Sword is about a girl named Mare who finds herself on a deadly path trying to be someone she isn't. As Mare escaped from the prison, Maven, who she thought loved her but turned on her, put her in; she found herself debating what to do. She needed to save the newbloods, who were people like her with a power, yet Red blooded, but she knew all of their lives would be at risk. First, she gathered up some of her friends at Tuck, the islands where all of the Red bloods were hiding from the silver bloods. Silver bloods are like gods who rule over the servant red bloods. First, Nanna, a newblood who was a shapeshifter, turned into Maven, and Mare and her team out on suits as if they were guards. Once they got into Corros, they had to knock out a few guards to get their way to the cells, so the guards caught on to their plan, and saw Mare, the known face, ”the little lightning girl.” They began to have a war in the prison while Mare fought off the Silvers and Cal and Shade took the prisoners to the plane to escape. Mare had just finished off a nymph Silver when she saw queen Elara. The queen tried to control her, but Mare overpowered her and finally killed the person she had always wanted revenge on. Finally, Shade used his power of “jumping,” or teleporting to get Mare out of the bloody mess, when a sharp piece of metal pierced his heart. Shade died, and Mare ran to the ship, crying. But, before she could get to the ship, she went to Maven. She offered to give herself up as a slave, if all of the children and her friends could go free.
