The Glass Castle Reflective Essay
“In my mind Dad was perfect…” (walls) This was Jeannette’s initial thought of her dad. She had so much faith in her dad and his plans to build her the glass castle. Throughout the Novel, The Glass Castle, is noticeable that the faith Jeannette had for her dad slowly starts to fade; disappointment after disappointment.
Dad had a drinking problem that affected his whole family in substandard ways. [Series] I believe that the initial disappointment that Jeannette faced from her father was when he came home drunk on Christmas eve, burned down the Christmas tree, the present, and the Christmas spirit. Jeanette couldn't help herself from being benevolent therefore forgiving him in the blink of an eye as she did
