Dinitia Hewitt from The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is a minor character that influences Jeannette. Throughout the book, Jeannette is constantly mentioning the dirt that surrounds her life. When Dinitia brings Jeannette to the pool to swim with her, she has an amazing time. She felt so pleased for the first time in her life, she says, ¨I'd never felt cleaner.¨ (Page 192) This moment shows Jeannette that there is another way a living other than the way her parents brought her up by.
