The Glade Runner

Thomas wakes up in a dark metal box with only the memory of his name. Doors open overhead to reveal a community of teenage boys living on a large farm land surrounded with very high walls. The boys call this place “The Glade”. On the outside of the glade, is gigantic maze that has monsters called Grievers populating it. Each month, a new boy arrives in this metal box to the Glade. Every weeks supplies is brought up through the elevator that Thomas rides. Thomas quickly learns that there are these Grievers outside in the Maze. If one of these monsters stings you, you will go through the “Changing”. This process is very traumatizing. Thomas meets the leader of the Glade and his second in command, Alby and Newt. He quickly befriends a kid named Chuck and begins a rivalry with a guy named Gally. Minho is the leader of a group called the “Runners”. The Runners are a small …show more content…
Minho tries to get him to the walls of the Glade before they close for the night, but it just isn't possible. Thomas sees them and runs into the Maze to help, breaking one of the few important rules they had. He manages to get himself trapped outside in the maze with them. The Maze is most dangerous at night because that's when the monsters that live inside the maze are the most active. Even though he is the most experienced, Minho freaks out and runs when the Grievers approach. Thomas wouldn't leave Alby and he saves Alby and himself. The three of them manage to survive the night in the Maze, something no one has ever done before. To some people Thomas is a hero, but it also leave people a little suspicious. Thomas gets in trouble for breaking the rule and is sentenced a day in the Glade’s jail. Minho give Thomas the position of a runner after his day in jail, but Gally questions whether or not Thomas should stay in the Glade at all. He accuses Thomas of being a spy of whoever put them in the
