In the book difference is eliminated by eliminating all color, choices, and emotions. To the people no one knows difference to them color is not a thing all they see is black and white also choices are taken from them. In The Giver sameness is negative thing because it stops creativity, people don't understand difference, and lastly it makes them behave like robots. Sameness is a bad thing.
