In the book, he is a twelve male with pale eyes. The pale eyes are a sign of the capacity to see beyond. In the book, no one in the community can see color, so there wasn’t much description of color in his physical appearance, just shades. Instead, Jonas in the movie is around an eighteen and has brown eyes. Instead of the pale eyes, Jonas has a birthmark on his arm that shows he has the capacity to see beyond. That is either the reason for why the giver and jonas transmit memories through hands or the other way around. Later in the movie, you can see everything in color, and he looked almost what I had expected. Brown hair is what I thought he would have (and he did), and of course the eyes should have been a paler color such as blue. He was taller, but that was because he was an eighteen in the movie. The movie changed a large portion of what was written in the book to make it more dramatic. The book seemed more intriguing and descriptive of what was going on. Unless you had already read the book, the movie wouldn’t have made much sense. The movie just reminds me of every other typical movie. The book was unique and seemed to have much more suspense to it. The suspense is almost what really makes a story a story. It needs to be fun to listen to and read. Just because the movie was more dramatic, doesn’t mean that it was better
