The Giver : Alternative Ending

They went down the hill on the sled. Faster and faster they went, the small cold crystals stinging Jonas’s face but he didn’t care because he knew that everything was going to be alright in a bit. Jonas looked around when something caught his eye. It was small and hidden but he had seen it and knew that it would bring trouble. It did.
The sled hit the bump, flying in the air, the cold surrounding him and Gabriel. Jonas reacted quickly, wrapping his arms around the shivering toddler and turning his back towards the ground, hitting it seconds later. Then all was still. For you and for Gabriel.” After the last word, everything around him went white, blinding his eyes. Jonas groaned and opened his eyes, his ears picking up the sound of soft cries. He look at Gabriel and felt renewed determination flow through him. He must save Gabriel. Jonas started to trek through the snow but it was hard since he continued to fall and trip on the hidden bumps below the cold white blanket. He didn't stop though, the thought of the promise he made to Rosemary kept him
