Jonas woke to the unpleasant stinging sensation of snow pressed against his right cheek. As he rubbed his face with his numb hands Jonas looked around confused at where he was. I don’t understand, Jonas thought with increasing worry, Is this Elsewhere? As Jonas willed himself to stand up, he felt the cold object pressing against his chest. His heart dropped as Jonas realized where he was. Behind him a few steps down the hillside Jonas saw the now frozen bicycle. Wrapping his arms around him and the frozen object Jonas forced himself to look down. Gabriel laid against Jonas’ chest under the tunic with his eyes closed, but this time he was ice cold and limp. One final tear stuck frozen to Gabriel’s left cheek, pure and innocent just like him. “No, no no…” Jonas kept muttering to himself as tears streamed from his eyes onto the forever young child. The falling snow had turned into frozen daggers puncturing Jonas’ heart until he was sure he would die from internal bleeding. His heart rate quickening …show more content…
Only this time, there was no sled, no happiness. Only misery and loneliness. Jonas’ heart sank as he limped towards the middle of the mountain's plateau. There was no other side of the mountain, merely a jagged edge that went straight down onto a frozen lake. Jonas slumped against a rock and once again began to cry. “What have I done!” Jonas screamed out at the vast forest below him. Suddenly a genius idea came to Jonas. He forced himself back onto his feet and limped over to the dangerous edge with a horrifying grin on his face. Jonas watched a snowflake as it drifted down into the snow thousands of feet below. He stood up straight, looking up calmly at the darkening sky. “Mom, Dad, I know you don’t understand what love is. Just please realize I’ll always love you no matter what happens. Lilly, don’t hurry to grow up. Stay innocent and young. Always be yourself and speak your mind no matter what the chastisement may
