Su Tung- p’o poem “On First Arriving to Huang-Chou” explains how a person’s life is going downhill and how he regrets doing the things he had done during the past. It is shown from the first few lines when Tung says, “Funny that I couldn’t keep my mouth shut; it gets worse the older I grow” (p 'o 261). From the first stanza and on the author is feeling the karma of his actions coming back to him. This can force the readers to feel that they did not listen to people of authority due to the fact that the lessons being taught were not significant them yet. As people grow older in their lives, they established regret in a situation that they should have learned to overcome in their childhood, but they did not. Although people in life will regret many situations in life, it will broaden themselves to become exceptional
