[…] But the strangest thing about it was, that from the crown of its head there sprung a bright clear jet of light, by which all this was visible” (Dickens, 55). The Ghost of the Christmas Past shows Scrooge his past days that have made him to be the man he is today. Shown from the past, Scrooge is “rejoiced beyond all bounds to see them” but later he ends up alone as the others parted to spend Christmas with their families. The first ghost shows him how much happier Scrooge used to be, and how important it is to be kind to others as it impacts them more than he realizes. Scrooge is reminded of his past self: a happy, young man filled with hopes and dreams.
