The Ghost Of Christmas Future: Comparing The Novel And The Play

The two scenes are similar in many ways, like how there are many differences between the scenes in Charles Dickens novel and the play version, such as in the novel, which was the original work, while others later turned it into a play for their own profits. But one scene that varies in the novel and in plays is the scene is where Scrooge and The Ghost of Christmas Future are in a graveyard, where a stone has Scrooge’s name carved in it. The Ghost of Christmas Future is pointing at the gravestone with Scrooge’s name, and how it seems to always be snowing when they are in the graveyard. Some differences from the novel and the play are when Scrooge goes to examine the gravestone in the novel, it is just a normal gravestone. In the play, it is said that the gravestone grows 10 feet high, has smoke coming from it, and has a green glow. In the novel, when Scrooge grabs Future’s hand, it changes into a bedpost, but in the play, it simply disappeared, leaving behind the cloth it was described wearing.

Usually, if the audience that watched one of the many plays performed by others, they get the wrong information about what actually happened in the novel, like how in a play, Scrooge’s gravestone grows up to 10 feet high, begins to glow green, and has smoke coming from it. In the novel, however, the gravestone does not do anything that happened in the play, and it’s a normal gravestone.
In short, the play and novel are similar in some ways, like how they are both based or loosely based on the novel, both versions have the three ghosts, and how Scrooge becomes good heart person and enjoys Christmas. They are also different, like how the ghosts are portrayed differently in the play and novel appearance
