The Ghost Coon

This story is told from Billy's point of view, allowing the reader to see events through his eyes. If another character were telling the story, the reader would get a different perspective. Retell the story of the bet and the hunt for the ghost coon from Rainie's perspective. When I woke up that morning, I had no way of knowing the events that were going to unfold would lead me to the worse day of my life. Nobody in this whole parts seems to like me or my family. I haven’t done nothing to them but they seem to just have it in for me. There is this rich kid named Billy who has everything. His grandpa owns the local store and they think that they are so much better than us. No other kid in these parts has a coonhound because they are so expensive but …show more content…
So, we planned to go hunting with him and see for ourselves. He told us not to bring our hound, Old Blue because his dogs wouldn’t hunt with him. I think he just didn’t want any competition. Anyway, the hunt was pretty exciting. That old ghost coon gave Billy’s dogs the slip over and over. They weren’t really as smart as he had been bragging about. And then, just like a miracle he actually caught that old coon. Only, he refused to kill it. Weird! Supposedly he had killed so many coons and now when it came to winning our bet he chickened out. I bet he really had never even killed a coon before in his life. Anyway, Rubin got real mad and was gonna whip Billy good when our dog Old Blue came running up. Without any warning, Billy’s dogs jumped on him and started tearing him apart. I yelled to Rubin for help and he grabbed up an ax and came to the rescue of Old Blue. Billy was yelling and running towards him. I don’t think Billy pushed him but Rubin fell and landed on the ax. I can’t even tell you the sound it made or the look on his face. Rubin died. Just like
