The Civil War lasted for four years minus three days. The president of the Union was Abraham Lincoln and the president of the Confederates was Jefferson Davis. Many battles came between the Union and the rebels. The Confederacy won many of the battles but, the Union won some very important ones. They won Antietam, Vicksburg, Appomattox Courthouse, and Gettysburg. Gettysburg is where Abe gave his famous speech the Gettysburg Address honoring those who had fallen.
