As technology advances, scientists are better prepared to understand and predict location and potential size of earthquakes. I have decided to focus on the geological side of predicting earthquakes since geology is my major. Earthquakes occur when tectonic plates slide against one another. Earthquakes can change “size” depending on the movement or speed of tectonic plates, as well as, the frequency of plate movement. Plates that have not moved recently have more built up pressure and will have a stronger, more aggressive earthquake. For instance: earthquakes are extremely common in California. Even though the earthquakes in California are bad, an earthquake in Mississippi could potentially be more catastrophic. The tectonic plates in Mississippi …show more content…

Simulation use must minimalize uncertainty by focusing on linear-way change in relation to the Earth’s structure.
