The first generation is the Veterans. This time frame is from 1925 to 1945. The Veteran generation nurses have seen World War II and have also experienced the Great Depression. These experiences have shaped who they are and they are considered the traditional generation. Their work characteristics include being respectful of others, values hard work and dedication, and they are very disciplined (Radford & Shacklock, 2012). This generation also believes in loyalty, rules, and commitment to their workplace. Some of the assets to this generation involve their stability in a job, they are very detail oriented and they are able to pass down skills from their many years of experience. This generation is from 1965-1980 and is also known as the “Latchkey Generation”. This generation is shaped by wars such as the Desert Storm and Vietnam. Generation X also values their independence and its outcomes and does not like team work (Radford & Shacklock, 2012).
