Millennials, also known as generation Y, were born between the mid 1980’s to the 2000’s. This is the largest generation so far, as well as the most diverse in the United States population. According to the Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, “more than one-in-three American workers today are Millennials (adults ages 18 to 34 in 2015) and this year they surpassed Generation X to become the largest share of the American workforce” (Fry). Millennials have grown up with technology all around them and have been brought up with it and use it for their everyday life. Many people will have their say about this ruining millennials and thinking that technology and social media is causing problems, when in reality it is actually beneficial if used the right way. Being comfortable with technology is very important and almost a necessity to most businesses these days. We are not just wrapped up in our electronics though; we also value spending time with family and friends more than any previous generation. Not only do we get a bad rap in general, but more specifically so in the workplace. Lazy, unstable, and ignorant are among some of the negative terms that older generations call millennials. This is unfair and not right to categorize a whole generation in those terms. They should not be viewed as that, but should be looked at for their positive influences to the workforce and what they can bring to the table. With our fresh ideas we can bring exciting new things…
