Now onto the gameplay itself. The game slowly builds to a crescendo as more and more “Soldiers” get added to the board. The increase in traffic really allows players to think about their attack strategies or to back away. The attack sequence can be fun given the randomness of using …show more content…
A Soldier gets 10 health points, while a Boss gets 50 health points. These health points get deducted every time an opposing game piece attacks you. The problem with this system is the record keeping aspect. Nowhere in the report mentioned a record keeper or a notebook that was designated specifically for keeping track of each Soldier’s health points. As more and more Soldiers get added to the board, players begin will begin to lose track of each Soldier’s health points, creating confusion when it comes to creating strategies or defending. One of the common problems I ran into while I was playing the game was during the late stages where I had at least 5 Soldier’s summoned at a given time. I would lose track of a specific Soldier’s health points because there was no way for me to keep track of each individual Soldier’s properties. A way to fix this would be to implement a record keeping device such as a notebook or a piece of paper. Each player would get one of these record keeping devices. This device would have a list of game pieces for both players and the corresponding health points remaining for that given game piece. Implementing this would streamline defensive and offensive strategies for both players because they would have more detailed information of the state of the game.
This leads me to another negative aspect of the game that I came across. There is no way to differentiate Soldier game pieces from one another. Given a set of pennies and nickels, one would not know a specific penny’s (Soldier piece) health points from all the other pennies because they all look alike. A solution to this would probably be numbered Soldier game pieces. This would greatly improve the record keeping aspect of the game, since each Soldier game piece would be assigned a unique number and would have its own health
