A Sorrowful Woman

The Gail Godwin story, “A Sorrowful Woman” demonstrates the role of devotion in marriage and motherhood. One night, a wife became depressed and sick from her motherhood duties. The husband understood that she needs a break, helped her to bed each night, performed all her duties, and decided to get a baby sitter for the son. The wife fired the baby sitter, and locked herself up in her room. One day, she went out from her room, made the husband and the son a meal, and locked herself again. As the husband and the son came back home, they found her dead.
