Firstly, a prominent social issue, slavery, was improved upon. Slavery was obviously as problem, but the problem was beyond the slave and their owners. Societally, slavery was an issue because a large amount of people were being affected, whether directly or indirectly. Although slavery was abolished, the mental and physical scars it left in people were permanent. Slavery is still illegal in the United States, but not everywhere in the world can say the same. Compared to our past and to other places we have improved.
Additionally, America has also overcome the great depression. During the great depression, citizens were struggling to find jobs, money for food and hope. More American children are now in certified and accredited schools that have standards for the children to keep them accountable and push them to their learning potential, which will influence their successfulness of their future.
