There are two forms of stratification there’s the caste system and the class system. The caste system is a system that is a little more strictly set than the class system. There are clear set in stone groups, that you can only be born into and not move up or down, you’re born in to a group and you stay there. Also functionalists believe that gender rules are changing because the economy is changing so there are more women working towards higher paying jobs. The conflict perspective shows that the gender inequalities are helping to maintain male dominance. Society is steering men in the direction of having high paying jobs and being powerful, while women are encouraged to stay at home and have kids and take care of their families. If a women who is looking for a job says she has kids or want to have kids there is strong possibility that they will be looked over for a job. Because if they have kids they will have to spend more time taking care of their kids, which could lead to time off from work. The reading “Dude You’re A Fag” by C.J. Pascoe it talks about male homophobia in teenage men, and how being called a fag as a teenage boy was one of the worse thing to be called.
