Which is why there are illnesses such as PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) which occurs in many war veterans, who have let their past get to the best of them. Wouldn’t it easier if a person could just forget? It would make life a whole lot easier if people could; that way we could live life without the memories that hinder people to grow. It would mean people could live their life the way they modified it. Umberto Eco once said, “The function of memory is not only to preserve, but also to throw away. If you remembered everything from your entire life, you would be sick.” This quote shares that the memories a person makes can be forgotten to what a person wants to see, and they should feel entitled to want to forget or else they will be consumed by their past.
