The Fresh Start Program Analysis

The “Fresh Start Program” is a two year program that provides insight on the quality of life for women that engage in prostitution. There is a consensus among society that prostitutes have a history of being sexually, emotionally, and physically abused as children or young woman. Unfortunately, most of these woman begin to use drugs to negate the pain. Typically, the women sell their bodies to get the money to buy drugs. The Fresh Start is designed to address the specific needs and difficult challenges that the women are facing during the rehabilitation process by providing them with the necessary resources to assist them in their life transformation. Some of the resources provided are mental health assessments, drug treatment, transitional housing, lifetime follow up, parenting and life skills, and employment readiness. This is accomplished by using sing operations. They would have undercover police officers dress up as “Johns” and soon as the officer is solicited sex with a price, the police offerors would intervene and arrest the prostitute. Typically, they deal with women that are prostitutes between the ages 14 and 62. The inmate that captured my attention Michelle Bailey, who has been using drugs since the age of 13. She has used marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine. She has also been shot, stabbed, and kidnapped. She has been enrolled once before but she failed. Bailey had went before the judge at the 36th District Drug Court prove to the judge that she deserves a second chance at “the fresh start.” The judge believed in her and granted her a second chance. However, once Bailey was released from the jail to go to the Genesis III her confidence level plummeted and she fled. Bailey was found; unfortunately, she had contracted hepatitis C from using drugs. I had such high hopes for Bailey. I wanted her to change her outlook on life but she did
