They spread across the colonies and showed how they could all work together. People felt free to choose their religion and there was more diversity in the colonies. The colonist now had ideas for religious freedom, plus more emphasis on science and how things worked around them .It showed the colonies that they could govern themselves and take a stand against what oppresses them. All this showed cooperation between the colonies and united them as a whole. This opened up the belief for democratic thought and opened up their minds to the world around them. The war debt was the main reason that taxes were imposed by the English on the colonies. It also weakened their control over them making the colonist work more effectively. Since the war weakened the British the colonists actions such as boycotts were effective to the colonists cause. The French and Indian War also gave France a reason to provide help to the colonists against the British. Without the French and Indian War the idea of independence would not have spread as it did, the colonists would not have been as effective and they may have lost the American Revolution all together or not even stood up for themselves to be a free independent
