People were still getting used to the major changes with equality. This book inheres the time because it tells a tale of equality between two different species of animals (different races of people) can get along even under the pressure of social norms. During the start of the movie The Fox and the Hound, they find each other and think nothing of the fact that there are different animal species and that societal norms say differently. Later in the book Copper grows older and is taught to hate Todd (The fox). This is like the 70’s because African American population was treated like normal people until the mid-70s due to and the protests on desegregation the public view of African Americas was at low. But toward the end of the 70’s got just like in the book at the begging of the book they friends and toward the end of the book there were on equal terms with each other and learned to accept on another for who they are. Chief and the hunter have a major role in the correlation between this book and the 1970’s. The older more experienced dog named Chief is like the older generation and Copper is like the newer generation due to the fact that Chief teaches Copper to hate and be aggressive toward the fox. While the movie is more child friendly and depicts the two main charters two fun loving people who are both really loyal to each other and to their original master which in the Tod’s case the old lady and for Copper the hunter. One of the main themes in the movie they portray the friend ship between the fox and the hound even though there are opposite type of animal. The moral of the book was that even though people might come from different backgrounds people can still be friends no matter who says otherwise or what the social norms say. And in the book the moral of the story was that don’t let hatred consume your life because people might spend all there their tlime spending hating on someone while people could forgive and live your life to the fullest. Another difference in the book is that Copper is now the favorited young pup due to the fact that Copper is a superior hunter dog than Chief. Chief does not die in the movie variation instead his leg breaks to have a more child friendly movie. One of the last things that is changed is that Todd doesn’t die in the movie, and the hunter doesn’t kill Copper in order to go into a retirement home.
