Explain The Four Steps Of Ethical Decision Making

The four steps for ethical decision making were originally made up by Bernard Lonergan. They were then adopted by Catharyn A. Baird. When she adopted these steps she also made an addition of a fifth step. The five steps to the decision making process are now be attentive, be intelligent, being reasonable, being responsible, and finally is reflection. This is known as the Baird Decision Model.
Baird uses this decision making model as a solid framework for her text. Not only does the book talk about the steps to making an ethical decision, but also talks about all the different factors that go into making that decision. When making a decision I first think about right and wrong. Although that may sound easy, sometimes the wrong decision has a better outcome for just me. When making a tough decision I have to think about others and everybody else affected by my decisions.
I base my decisions on what will keep me happy and keep others around me happy. I don’t like to disappoint people. Which can sometimes create an issue when making an ethical decision. You are not always going to please everyone or maybe not even the people that you want to please when making an ethical decision, but you will be making a decision that is ethical.
Part of the reasons that I make the decisions that I do is because I feel that I am responsible for making these decisions, this is for a variety of reasons. One big reason is because of the values that have been taught to me for so long. Another reason is that I feel that I need to make these decisions is because I feel that I have the responsibility to be a role model for my nieces and nephews. I learned how to make my decisions from watching others so I know that they are going to also learn from
