In other words, Condorcet wanted to remove technology so people would gather knowledge. This ideal is one that has most definitely not been met. Technology is everywhere, and one of the main factors in gaining knowledge. Schools are using more and more technology to teach students. For example, my cousin was the first graduating class at Lake Nona High School. It was a brand-new school, with the best of the best technology. It was built with smart boards, and it had all new, up to date computer systems. She told me that a majority of her assignments were done through technology. The use of technology to gain knowledge is like walking up a staircase. Every step you take, you are progressing. You get higher to the top each time you take a step up. Specifically, as a society, we lack the ability to try to understand and share our feelings with one another. For instance, I was walking out of my hair salon last week I saw a woman talking on her phone. I could tell she was very upset and she began to tear up. She was standing next to her car with the door open and was partially in the spot next to hers. A man begins to pull into the spot where is standing, and starts honking his horn at her and rolls down his window to yell. This woman was clearly upset with something she had been told on the phone and could have been given some empathy from the man. Also, social media plays a large factor in peoples’ everyday life. By bashing other individual’s beliefs, and calling them names is not showing empathy. My senior year of high school, in my English class, we were having a debate on social issues. While we were writing our speeches, I was nervous for presentation week because I did not want my classmates to look at me differently because of my opinion. Once I gave my speech the class was allowed to ask questions, I was expecting to have rude comments and tone thrown my way. Instead, I got questions about why I felt that way, and even though they disagreed they understood where I was coming from.
