The Four Myths Similarities

Decent Essays
All four myths had only two similarities which were: they all had men apart of the creations and there were non-sexual acts. The significant thing about this was that all males are more important than women because they created life. All four myths basically said that men ruled the world the most because they created life. These men were so independent that they didn't need to have any sexual acts to create people because they had power and objects they use to create anthromorphics. These myths shows us that humans from a round the world can have the same ideas. With humanity this lets us know they have different beliefs

Out of the readings from the book Parallel Myths, a book sampling the Hindu scriptures, I have picked four selections to write about below. The first selection is The Thoughts of Brahma, which is about how Brahma created the world. The next is The Virtue of Compassion which is a story meant to teach a lesson about loyalty. The Third is The King, The Hawk, and the Pigeon which is another story about teaching a lesson, this one though is about keeping your word. The Last is How Rudra Destroys the Universe and is about how the world is created then destroyed through cycles.…

You have an interesting theory, Joyce. It was hard for me to determine why most of these myths have the same message. Something that I have noticed from most of them is that their stories are somewhat similar, the creation myths mostly. At least, they all agree that the world was in darkness at the beginning and the sequence of events that happened as well. For most of these stories, the first thing that was created was the light (even in the Bible).…

The Iron age best describes our current society because of the constant greed, hate, and distrust people have for each other and the world around them. In the Greek myth “The Four Ages”, Ovid states that humans “dug into her [the Earth’s] vitals, pried out the wealth a kinder lord had hidden… all that precious metal, the root of evil” (15-17).
