This Private had much to learn and did so in the most critical environment on the planet, a warzone. I also spoke my mind and very compulsive, and I spout off to everyone early in the deployment. I had conflicts with other Soldiers and leadership on multiple occasions. Eventually wising up and simply finding ways to control myself emotionally by using multiple outlets such as local entertainment from the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) doing karaoke, talking and hearing what others had to say, go to the gym, and strive to simply be better help me improve my lack of self-management. This is not easily achieved for it is an always improving skill. I had to interact with Soldiers in all scenarios. Such a scenario would be a Soldier which was considering suicide. I had to talk to her and calm her down by being emotionally aware of how she felt, reduce the stress of the situation, not coming overwhelmed with the situation, and trying to “lighten the mood”. I understand not all the skills may have been used, however due to emotional intelligence, the situation was handled well and ended on a positive note for the Soldier received the help she
