Many different technical aspects are used to create the many films people watch around the world daily. Technical aspects that include: shot framing, camera movement, editing, specific point-of-views, dialogue, music, and many more all go into the making of a film. The common use of some of these aspects in films can make up a director’s directorial style. As well as this , Tarantino is very ‘over the top’ in his approach. Fulfilling the three criteria Sarris created, Quentin Tarantino can qualify as a modern version of a film auteur. While the theory is extensively criticised for its absence of a solid definition and its continual reworking of the criteria, the explanations and opinions that are currently presented on the topic all propose that Tarantino is a worthy example of a film…

When I think about Quentin Tarantino I think about Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Django Unchained, Kill Bill, Inglorious Bastards—all amazing films worth recognizing. I feel like Quentin Tarantino has talent; he’s gifted and knows how to put a film together for the enjoyment of the audience. ‘The Hateful Eight’ has an amazing cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and even Channing Tatum is in this film. Tarantino definitely does not have an issue finding A-list actors for his films. ‘The Hateful Eight’ is essentially about a bounty hunter, John “Hangman” Ruth (Kurt Russell), who will take his bounty, dead or alive; and Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who happens to be alive, because the hangman always delivers his bounty to the noose, to Little Rock.…

In the story “Tell Tale Heart” the author Edgar Allen Poe uses his lunacy and intention to create suspense. The author frames his story in a way that there's thrill on every page that you read. He uses a different way to write his words, he writes his words like he's insane and with intention. In the story he has the urge to kill the old man because of the man's eye that he thinks is evil. He explains how he kills the man very precisely, also he tells you how he´s at door of the old man's room ready to execute him, when the man wakes up, (that's one way that he builds his suspense) and yells “WHO'S THERE” that's when he stops and waits for the man to lay back down and go to sleep so he can move on with his atrocity and kill the man, now at this point in the story the suspense is built to the top and you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next then he tells you that he…

Another stylistic tendency of Tarantino films, and therefore further establishing his technical competence, is Tarantino’s interest in distorting the classic film narrative form. A majority of Tarantino’s films don't take place in chronological order, instead preferring non-linear narratives filled with flash-forwards, discontinuous story lines, flashback, and fragmented chapters designed to purposely confuse the audience watching. One way that Tarantino helps organise his storytelling to help the audience understand what’s going on, and soon has become one of his signature stylistic features, is his use of title cards. Tarantino’s title cards come in many different forms, but generally they are words that flash on screen between scenes or…

Human beings are emotional creatures. We can be happy, sad, scared, and angry all at the same time. Some can be described as overly emotional, dramatic, cold, and crazy, but just how accurate and exclusive or inclusive are these given stereotypes, more importantly crazy? “Why we crave horror films?” by Stephen King is about the underlying reasons human beings are so drawn to the production of horror films and rollercoasters, what they bring out in us, and why we keep going back for more. King argues that horror movies satisfy an important and essential human necessity of grim impulse and socially unacceptable desires in everyone.…

Cinematic techniques within a film can show more information to the audience sometimes more than the dialogue does. The cinematic techniques in There Will Be Blood help to establish the mood or tone in the scene and a sense of power and who has control of it. Paul Thomas Anderson helps to tell the story of There Will Be Blood with the use of many cinematic techniques. He shows us the story of a man overwhelmed with greed and the actions he commits afterwards. Anderson is a fan of using lighting and camera angles to give information to the audience.…

It is always useful, once having written a piece of writing, to take a step back and reflect and critique your work. I will be doing the same with a short story that I wrote named The Faceless. The faceless is a fiction piece of writing, detailing the attributes of a particular humanoid species coined the faceless. The story depicts the physical features of the creatures and points out the questions that are raised simply by the existence of this species. Reflecting on this piece of writing has opened my eyes to different perspectives of the story and how they would influence my response to it.…

Both “12 Years a Slave” and “Amistad have their fair share of the true history behind each film. In “Amistad” Spielberg somewhat abuses history to make the film more entertaining. A prime example is the scene where we see the salve on the slave ship going through the middle passage and we witness how they are being treated. While that the film tells a true story of a group of Mende people from Sierra Leone, who take over a Spanish slave ship named A La Amistad, it is mainly A film of white hero worship. Much of the movie is occupied with the all white Supreme Court and where white lawyers defend the poor basically mute Africans.…

Screams, bloody scenes, and suspenseful music are all the ingredients for a scream filled tormenting movie referred to as a horror movie or a scary flick. Horror films are movies that are created to provide a feeling of fright, unease and panic to the people viewing them. Some people love the adrenaline rush they get from the unexpected killer slicing his victims head off its body. Others love to watch horror films because of the love they feel from their partner while watching the movie. A certain scene in the movie might be so graphic that they cannot help but hold and console each other.…

In the world of one-pagers, beat sheets, drafts and synopsis. Scene by scene breakdowns can get lost in the shuffle. Writers often forget about this process altogether, which is a huge mistake on their part. Scene by scene breakdowns are a writer’s trump card, as they benefit from this process in countless ways. Perhaps the most common reason for skipping the scene by scene breakdown process is simply because not everyone has a clear definition, or idea of what it actually is.…
