Growing up, I never had to worry about if the power would still be on in the morning, if we would have something to eat for dinner, if there was enough money to put gas in the car. I grew up privileged; my family belonged to a country club, we went out to eat, we had beach houses. Then suddenly, that was all gone. My parents got a messy divorce, requiring many hours with attorneys. The expenses started to add up. One beach house was sold, the other a foreclosure. My mother, two siblings, and dog moved from our house with a large backyard to a cramped two-bedroom condo in another town. These were difficult times, but we knew things would get better. My mother got a full time job and we moved into a house. After two years, she quit her job and
