Imminent lawyers will also need to pass a BAR exam, this is a notorious and extremely challenging exam that for some is a deterrent in becoming a lawyer. A lawyer I recently had a conversation with told me that regarding what to major in, in order to be a lawyer, it is very broad. One can actually major in just about anything they want, granted it would be wise to major in something that is slightly more related to the career such as psychology or political science. The reason it is unspecific is in view of the fact that there is a need for lawyers to be diverse and colorful, law firms don’t need people who only major in law the reason being that is the whole purpose of law school. Although the option of majors are broad English, public speaking, economics, and government history are helpful (“Lawyers” Occupational). To be successful as a lawyer there are some attributes one should obtain, like being able to speak well in front of others, being able to think quickly and on the spot, and strong research skills. Although they don’t make as much money as a lawyer, the work appears much more exciting and the amount of schooling is far less, thus saving me money in the long run. Detectives also have more hands on experience in their line of work, they get to be outdoors more and even travel sometimes. This variety and unpredictability is extremely appealing to me but even more so is the chance to make a difference in people’s lives. Detectives make the community a secure and sound environment for all the members by discovering who the killers are and expelling them from the area to keep them from killing again. Without their work, serial killers and murderers could run rampant and wreak havoc in our society so it is important to recognize the necessity for homicide detectives.
My personality traits match up exceeding well with this career and will further help me become a prosperous agent. My next step in following the dream is to find a college that’s right for me and major in criminology and/or psychology. I am already well on my way and am headed down the right path so far as I have applied for colleges already and even have a few scholarships lined up.
