Child Abuse is everywhere, we don’t always know what signs or what to look for we just hope and pray when we are born our parents will love us and would keep us safe. In my situation that was not the case. We look at kids every day in the stores and as we go to work we may not even think about it until we have personally been put in that spot. There are many different things that can drive someone to abuse their child, but in your mind you’re probably thinking “How anyone could hurt an innocent child?” Well in that case it could be drugs, drinking, or just plain mad, but we still may never know. Maybe they were abused as a child and they think that it is just natural. Maybe my story will shed some light to it.
When I was about five years old I can remember some things I really wish I didn’t. My mom and dad where involved in drugs, I always thought they loved me they told me all the time, But they didn’t really show it, and at the time I was too young to know the difference. I had never been shopping like this before. I got a new bed, I was so excited. Grandma and I went on a trip together, I got to go to Branson and got to Ride the Ducks. When we came home papa said he had a surprise for me. We went upstairs and he opened the door, it was my own room! I had a new bed, new toys, new clothes, everything new. I finally knew the meaning of unconditional love that parents are supposed to have for their kids. At that moment I walked up to them and told them that they will forever be my angels, because they saved me from a life of pain and agony.
So now that you know my story I ask, are the signs there? Do you think you know someone who has or is being abused? I ask that you please don’t wait to make that call. I was one of the lucky ones, but there are many out there that are not so
