Barry becomes the Flash to protect city he is living in, Central City, from many harms and to bring justice to a thing who had framed his father to go to prison for life. There were no stereotypes presented in the Flash as everyone was having unique quirks. The gender preference was most common in villains Flash was facing as only two female villains were presented so far. The socioeconomic status for Barry Allen and people around him were stable. No one had financial troubles nor any need for money. The most notable gender role appeared in the Flash was male father figures and friends offering many valuable advice to Barry how to get through his problems. Barry’s father was sent to prison for lifetime and Barry was sent to foster care. The Flash portrayed many moments where Barry’s families and friends filing each other’s missing gaps in their lives. A carefree boy, three female-guardians, and the first show created solely by a woman on Cartoon Network easily creates the premise for a feminist view of Rebecca Sugar’s, Steven Universe. The show portrays the story of a young boy who is raised primarily by three “mother-figures” that also act as mentors and guardians known as the Crystal Gems. Together, the quartet serve as heroes to the humans that inhabit the Earth and protectors to Earth itself from any harm. The evolving of the story between Steven, Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst, as well and the world they interact with contains dialogue, context, and scenarios that illustrate a feminist/gender view. The Feminist/Gender theory in Steven Universe is illustrated through the diversity of female…

The funniest difference between the ads is that you can tell when the cigarette companies had to put health labels on their ads. In the 1979 Camel ad, it had a warning that this cigarette is bad for your health. Meanwhile, the 1940s Camel ad didn’t have these warnings. It was quite the opposite the 1940s Camel ad had what Jib Fowles would call “A need to feel safe appeal”. The 1940s Camel ad describes their product as the cigarette most consumed by doctors.…

Anthony, J, and I chose two still ads from the same cologne line, over a decade apart. The line is “Le Male” by Jean Paul Gaultier, and the two ads that we chose are pictured below. Our task was to analyze the “gayness” of the advertisement, and therefore to also analyze what wasn’t gay about it. To do this, we collectively did research about the history of the content of the ads, the brand and the creator of it, and the models used. Lastly, we analyzed the aesthetics of the ad to pull it all together, using subtle or not so subtle visual clues to further support our hypothesis that these ads did indeed have at least a little something gay about them.…

    Small Kid Target Audience

My guess is that the target audience here are the median wage families with small kid(s). The first one they added a picture of kids riding a toy car and the other half of the ads is the landrover parking at the front yard of the house so when I saw the ads I thought that the target audience was families with small kids because that’s what it seems to me but comparing it to the 2nd ads with the same car I thought that maybe the audience here might be young adults because the ads is look so simple and what I think about it is that the advertiser was saying that this car is very basic and people who are looking for a simple car this is ads is right for you. The difference between the two ads is the first one looks like they targeting the families with kids, I think that’s what it is because they put a picture of kids riding a car while the second ads it seems like the car is for anyone whose looking for a basic car.…

Family Guy is the show I have picked for my final. This show is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth Macfarlane and is based off stereotypes and negative depictions of almost every aspect of life. It is centered on the griffin family that consists of the parents, Peter and Lois; their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their talking dog, Brain. The Griffin’s are a model family but each member is complex, different, and yet noticeable individual. The whole show resides in Quahog, Rhode island.…

There is concern among parents and researchers that children exposed to television absorb the social gender implications represented within the television programming. Children between the ages 2 – 11 years, on average, spend more time watching television than they typically spend in any other activity besides school and sleep. The amount of time spent in front of a television screen provides enough evidence to call television one of the dominant microsystems in a child’s life that both informs and maintains their conceptions of how a certain gender should behave and act like (Leaper et al, 2002). This paper will be analyzing the extent of how males and females are portrayed within television programming that children are most likely to watch. More specifically the analysis will compare results across different genres of television shows that children will watch.…

The video titled What is Clutter very simply explains exactly what advertising clutter is, how it has become overwhelming for people, and how people are becoming immune to it. Advertising is in every corner of our society, from television commercials, magazine advertisements, billboards on busses, trains and taxi cabs and even in the cup on a golf course. Companies are struggling to outdo each other; the more ads they create, the more they have to create to reach us in a society that is already inundated with them. In the past, advertisements would demonstrate how one product was better than another by using words such as better, faster, whiter, etc., and were focused on showing us what the product could do to solve a problem we were facing.…
