In our government we have 5 principles of Democracy that are still used today. The three that are used often are Checks and Balances, Popular Sovereignty, and Rule of Law. Our government uses these often to make sure our government stays equal and no one branch becomes too powerful. The founding fathers were scared of a powerful government so they did everything to keep the government becoming too powerful.
