Islam is the world’s fastest growing religion and is getting larger in terms of followers every year. In the year of 2050 Islam will grow from 1.6 billion to 2.76 billion followers. The word Islam means submission because people are submitting their will to God. Islam has many religious roots pertaining to other world Religions. In the media Islam is stereotyped for not practicing peace by saying Muslims commit acts of terrorism, women don’t have rights and that the Jihad is a holy war which are not true. Despite all these stereotypes being placed on Islam it is actually a peaceful religion and is similar to Christianity and Judaism because of the Five Pillars affecting a Muslims life, why Muslims practice the five pillars and what the Five Pillars of Islam represent as a whole.
The Five Pillars of Islam affect a Muslims life. 3 examples of The Five Pillars affecting a Muslims life is Zakat, Fasting and Salat. Muslims give a compulsory donation to the poor which is called Zakat. “Zakat does not refer to charitable gifts given out of kindness or generosity, but to the systematic giving of 2.5% of one 's wealth each year to benefit the poor” . Giving Zakat shows how Islam is a peaceful religion and connects to Judaism because giving to the poor each year recognizes the people who are in desperate need of shelter, food and money. Also giving to the poor encourages new growth in the economy by poor people know what they need, and if a Muslim gives them money they can buy it,…
