What Are The Five Characteristics Of Collaborative Collaboration

Collegial Collaboration Collegial collaboration means to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor. There are five characteristics to collegial collaboration within a school setting. The five characteristics include spontaneous, voluntary, development-oriented, pervasive across time and space, and unpredictability.(Foard,2013). While being paired into collaborative groups to complete a project, each characteristic will be implemented into fidelity. The group in which will be discussed will be Group 19. Characteristic one is spontaneous. Spontaneous means to arise out of initiative. By the way that each group was paired for the group project, it could only prove that each group member had to exhibit spontaneity, by coming up with different topics in which we could possibly choose to elaborate on, as well as how each member will individually contribute to the project. This type of practice is often seen in faculty meetings or in professional learning community meetings. Professional learning communities are where teachers collaboratively work together to ensure all collaborators accountability for successful results. An objective to professional learning communities is to intentionally scaffold learning experiences to reduce teacher isolation. In a school setting professional learning communities can offer a window of opportunity for new teachers to learn from experienced teachers, as well as offer new ideas from different perspectives on the same concept.
