The five approaches to creating a positive leadership include; being culturally aware, creating a clear, bold and simple message, invite contribute to changes, maintain personal relationship, and taking obstacles and turning them into opportunities for success. In addition, I find that whenever I am given the opportunity to use my leadership skills I jump at the opportunity as this is an important characteristic of financial analysts. For instance, in my speech we were divided into different sections and were given the opportunity to be the moderator. As the moderator I was reasonable for insuring that my group had all their work completed prior to our speech, and that they were all comfortable with their topics. I also was in charge of introducing each person’s topic which caused me to search into each of the topic so I would have an understanding if any questions were directed my way. However, first main challenge that I hold when in a leadership position is not being comfortable pointing out people’s mistakes. While, I can very easily point out the mistakes of my own, and create solutions from there I am often uncomfortable points others flaws. The main reason why I have an issue with pointing out others flaws is that I do not want them to perceive me as trying to put them down or targeting them in particular. In order, to improve on this aspect in a leadership position, I need to be certain that what someone is discussing does not help or hurts our position. Furthermore, if I am able to explain why I believe that they have made a mistake I might be able to help come up with an innovative idea which will make both parties happy. In previous assignments, I distinguished between authentic and servant leadership approaches. Authentic leadership focuses on qualities that help leaders to be perceived as trustworthy and believable by their followers (Northouse, 2012). One of the many strengths of authentic leadership is that it fulfills a need for trustworthy leadership (Northouse, 2012). According to Northouse (2012), servant leaders put followers first, empower them, and help them develop their full personal capacity. Servant leaders build strong relationships with others by giving followers the support they need, involving them in decisions, and building a sense of…

A classroom model that aligns with the above personal classroom management philosophy, is the Positive Behaviour Leadership (PBL), created by Bill Rogers (Lyons, Ford & Arthur-Kelly, 2011). The key elements that stand out within PBL, are that any disciplinary actions that are taken, allow for students to become accountable for their behaviour and choices (Brady, 2005). This is congruent with the above management philosophy, as it places students at the forefront of their education and a gives them a pivotal place in the classroom. I am more aware of my own strengths as a leader and areas I need to improve upon based on Goleman’s (2015) leadership quiz, my advocacy experience on Capital Hill, and mentorship. I have improved my communication skills within groups by speaking out more with concise thoughts and evidence to back them up. I have been challenging processes by appealing to different means to accomplish a task, such as working within a group rather than individually to finish a project. Additionally, my confidence has grown regarding addressing myself as a leader.…
