The First Steamboat: The Career Of Robert Fulton

Robert Fulton was an engineer who created the first steamboat in 1807. Prior to accomplishing this he was an artist in Philadelphia at the young age of 17 where he enjoyed painting. After being advised to move to London due to bad health in 1786 he fulfilled his lifelong interest of engineering. He secured documents for English machines before getting involved with weapons. In 1797, he worked on submarines, mines and torpedoes for use against piracy. He then moved to France to work on canal systems and built the Nautilus whish was a diving boat. Finally he built the first commercial steamboat service in the world, which had its first successful mission in 1807 from New York to Albany. I do not think that Fulton is a good choice to represent
