The First Roller Coaster

The history of roller coaster goes all the back to russia to where it was just ice, hay stacks, and sand. In the 1600s, used hay as a board for sledding on ice and used the sand to slow it down when it needed to stop. It lead to the french making a more advance version to America having its first roller coaster. That first one was made on Coney Island in 1875, it was made to keep people entertained on the weekends. Over time it kept improving until the Great Depression and World War II which caused the production of roller coasters to decline. The first theme park, filled with all types of rides, was Disneyland. Six Flags Magic Mountain, later theme park, created a coaster that seemed impossible.     Its funny today with all of the fast roller coasters but the first roller coaster in the United States only went 6 miles per hour. These days roller coasters come in all different shapes and sizes and the fastest roller coaster goes 149 miles per hour, which is a big difference from the beginning of roller coasters when riders would sit on books of wood and ice with straw stuffed inside of it, then they would get a little push and slide down.
