After reading the assignment requirements, I was originally unsure of how to tackle such an open-ended assignment; with no specific goals posted I decided to create my own. A large part of why I want to learn to speak French isn’t just because we are a bilingual nation or because it will increase employment prospects after University; it was to start to learn and appreciate French culture. Growing up in the Guelph area we were never exposed to French culture. In a way, we miss out on a large portion of truly Canadian culture when we limit ourselves to our native English language.
Music has a way of opening the door to other cultures; so with this assignment I decided to use it as an opportunity to …show more content…
I really enjoyed this song because it is much slower moving in comparison to the Coeur de Pirate song; which allowed me to really focus on the words she was singing. I found I could actually pick out some of the words as she worked through the various seasons in each verse. The song it’s self also seemed to be composed of easier words than the Coeur de Pirate song, and had a brief verse where she switched to English around the 2:30 mark. This made me wonder if the music label and/or the artist herself were trying to appeal to a more global audience with this particular song? Either way, again I really enjoyed the cadence of the song and the way the rhythm of the words went along with it. Lyrics
