As I walk into the office of the public middle school, I notice that there is a lady with straight, smooth, dirty blonde hair. She startles me by saying, “Good morning, how can I help you today.” As my mother starts talking to the lady I take a step back and take a good look around the vibrant room that has been plastered with posters. As I try to read one of the vibrant posters, the lady says, “Give me a sec and I’ll get your schedule ready.” As we patiently wait for the lady to give us the schedule. As the lady comes back she brings a student that is about my age and informs me, “Here is your schedule and this is Lisa and she will be your tour guide today, she has some classes with you..:” It takes me a second to realize that not only is this person is going to be in my class but she will always help me around this big school. As we walk side by side she asks me a question that not only offends me but surprises me, “So, why do you have to wear that thingy around your head.” As she makes a circle around her face, I feel as if she attacked my value, my sense of pride that not only was not only destroyed but was demolished by these words, these simple words and that was when I realized that I didn’t belong here and I was going to be different than
