“The First Appendectomy” is a medican journey about reality. Therefor, it consisted of lots of annoyance and steep, bumpy, downhill roads. Reality is the unmodified version of life. There are no fairytales or happily ever afters. In this case, Mr. Poldnsky needed to have a surgery by a fully educated and prepared doctor “...and spent half an hour tying knots on the bestposts in my room.” In anyones opinion, the doctor wasn’t prepared one bit. This is an example of someone preparing for a journey, and failing miserably, but not being able to give up. Luckily, the doctor had a wise assistant who helped him through his medical journey. “ With George holding the veil between his fingers I had no trouble.” For this reason, My. Poldnsky didn’t face
