The National Transgender Discrimination Survey “showed that 26% of trans people lost a job due to bias, 50% were harassed on the job.” Since there are no specific laws that protect discrimination of transgender people, they face the largest unemployment numbers in the country. Despite legal advances for transgender people, there are still 31 states that do not have laws protecting transgender people in the work force. Transgender people face more discrimination than any other group, but it is not talked about because of the stigma that they already have enough rights. Job discrimination can also be tied in with paying for their transition. When they do not have a job, they are unable to make payments for their transitions which once again, leads them to unhealthy transitions. In addition, when transgender people are unable to find a job, they have a higher chance of seeking a job as a sex worker. These raise the stakes higher for their safety, as they are more likely to receive sexually transmitted diseases and be victims of violence. The discrimination that they face in the public, health care, and their jobs make it difficult to live a life that is normal. Additionally, each time they go somewhere they have to protect themselves from hate crimes and from being murdered. By providing laws that help target these aspects in their lives, it would allow for transgender people to live a life with less obstacles, since discrimination is not something that easily disappears. Despite recent gains in the transgender community, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in order to guarantee
