Most people who own weapons do not try to hurt or to injure others just because they have the means to defend themselves. Arguments in favor and against gun control have been a constant battle in the United States of America. The question continues on a daily basis about the gun control controversy, with both sides not able to compromise in order to come up with an agreement that pleases them. Society in the U.S will continue to debate that guns are just a tool to kill innocent people, while others say it is a way to defend their home. The constant battle between society and the government on the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution continues to remain, if individuals should have the right to bear arms or not.
It was in the mid 1800 when American settlers moved out west, taking full advantages of the land that the United States gave to the pioneers, based on the Homestead Act of 1862. Since it was a new land, the settlers had to use hand guns and rifles to hunt the buffalos and wild animals for food. In addition, settlers had to use weapons as an extension of their hands that when used it sends out a lethal punch, which was a great way to defend themselves from outlaws. Afterward, in 1887 the National Rifle Association was established and have been a major advocate for gun rights, which has become one of the most powerful organization in the U.S. According to Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia (2014) “the National Rifle Association (NRA), with more than 4 million members.…
