The Feudal System has been in existence since mankind was born although kingdoms in the middle ages were most known for it. It is a social and political structure for a governed body of people. A feudal system consisted of four classes of people. The peasants were the lowest on the totem pole. Often peasants consisted of slaves and poor people that worked in the fields for a place to stay and food to eat. The lords governed the peasants and the peasants gave them labor as a service. Knights would patrol the lord’s land and protect it in return for food or money. The nobles were over the lords and knights and provided land. The king was over everyone and was in charge of the nobles. This system was effective for keeping barbarous people out
