We all have our meaning of makes you a father. This year we explore different play that explore what makes you a father. Does just providing for your child mean you are a good parent or by showing love.
In the play the Fences, you have a father and son. A father who tend to be strike on his son because he son wanted to quit his job to play sports.Cory, has been recruited by a college football team. Troy was in the Negro Leagues but never got a chance to play in the Major Leagues because he got too old to play just as the Major Leagues began accepting black players. With this play i think of Soul gone home. This is a play where we discovered that the mother bad mother. You have a little boy who is suffering from TB. This boy didn’t eat. The mother didn't have any money to feed them. She was a prostitute who made little money. In this play the little boy dies and come back as a ghost who tells his mom that she was not a good mother.The mother said she did the best she could. Troy insists that Cory refrain from playing football and he expresses his reasons. Football will not provide Cory with the skills to succeed that an education and work experience will provide.
Cory accuses his father of being competitive, but Troy claims to be helping Cory to avoid the same disappointments that he faced himself in his baseball career. The attitude of control and the inability to express his feelings softly seem to be traits continued from Troy's own childhood.
His father was brutal and controlling, and although Troy loves Cory, he knows of no other way to bring up a son.
Troy's parenting shows no yielding. He cannot even tell his son that he likes him when Cory asks this rather vulnerable question. As Cory grows more rebellious and assertive, Troy becomes increasingly combative and stern. Troy's inability to allow Cory to pursue his interests and to express any selfish work to serve their
relationship. Troy respond Don’t i clothes you and feed you. Basically saying that Buying his clothes is more than showing him love and affection. A father to me is loving. In having a son every son want to be like daddy, vIn this play cory did not have that. So I would said that he feel left out and alone. As parent we have to make sure our children know that we love them, So they won't grow up to
