They want to change the way society has made things and do away with the norm and modify social change. The Women Right Movement wanted equal rights for women in politics, economic, and social status in society. They were given a chance at a louder voice about what they wanted to change and did it. Before this time women were discontent and obedient as if they knew what could not do as in speak up and have a voice. Although women got there increased rights their roles as women that they wanted to change did not come. Women still were expected to follow their gender roles, family roles, and house roles. Hester was being punished for her adulterous act with a preacher and having a children while being a married woman. She was sentenced by her community to wear a Scarlet A and stand in front of everybody with her child and before having the baby she was sentenced to prison. But truthfully in her society ladies were already being alienated for adultery.
