As a society with law, order and justice, the people and authorities of this nation’s land should see that “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends”(Tolkien)- as said in J.R.R’s “The Fellowship of the Ring”. Sentencing people to the death penalty for heinous crimes would be an easy route for criminals when compared to the everyday life in prison. In addition, allowing the death penalty to ensue not only ensures escape but also the fact that it does not allow criminals to own up to their actions. Furthermore, the power a judge has on sentencing the death penalty is too high and powerful as many negative consequences could arrive after these types of sentences. In the end, though, the issue of deterrence is still in debate as many people opposed to the death penalty believe that the death penalty does no such thing. Moreover, capital punishment should not be allowed in Canada’s criminal justice system due to negative impacts. When given the choice of a difficult and traumatizing life in prison versus and an easier alternative out, most people that break the law would much rather end their lives than face the potential living hells on Earth manifesting as prisons. Although Canada’s prisons may show more favourable conditions than others around the world, the notion of allowing Canada’s worst citizens escape their malevolence…
