The Feelings Poem Analysis

Improved Essays
The leading Bollywood lyricist, script writer and a literary poet of distinct voice starts his much awaited book, The Feelings, with these beautiful lines:
I am a poet, who weaves sweet and pungent songs with the delicate and sublime words
And whatever comes in my way, either thorn or a flower, I take it with a generous smile on my lips.
Nawab Arzoo is known for some of the best songs which he penned in a number of hit Hindi films like Bazigar, Sathi, Bhabhi, Jaan Tere Nam, Dancer, Dil Ka Keya Qasoor and many others. He is also a sought after lyricist among the television soap producers like Ekta Kapoor whose many popular serials are attached with many melodious title songs written by him.
He is still busy with his first passion, writing

And all equally have strength to attract the attention of the serious readers of poetry. But some lines are so powerful and enchanting that it is hard to ignore. It keeps hovering in your mind for a longer period of time. I have picked some couplets which forced me to think deeply and disturbingly. These lines are as follows:
I make, sometimes, Roti, sometimes, vegetables and rice
These kinds of figures only a lunatic sketch on the wall.

We have been living in our country for centuries together
Why you turn it into a slaughter house just for the sake of a few votes

My city is so big, O Baba
But, where is the human, O Baba

Whenever you like, you may search me thoroughly
I keep a throbbing heart inside my body, not a bomb

Perhaps, that lonely bird got ensnared by a hunter
Who used to live in my house and flew from there

When the communal riots took place, it changed the face of my city completely
And that house which was perched in front of the police station, got burnt quickly

This book is a stepping stone, and I do hope that Nawab Arzoo will not stop himself here and produce some more good books in future to come. I wish him a great success as both a professional writer and poet and literary master of his time.

The short poem by Billy Collins “Care and feeding” is a story I can connect my personal life experience with. The narrator therefore seems to be a human, who either considers himself a dog or feels like one. While reading the story, I was thinking about how selfish the narrator sound. Because he’s turning 420 years old in dog age then that’s when he decide he wants to be a dog. After living his life on earth enjoy everything he possibly can, now the only thing left for him to think about is how he wants to become a dog because he feel old and lonely.…

“Isolation is the worst possible counselor”(Unamuno). Emily Dickinson describes in her narrative poem,”From Blank to Blank,” a tormented person with loneliness and confinement, no matter what the narrator does to try to avoid it. The speaker admits defeat when she finds no way out of the darkness, because whatever she does makes no difference. Emily Dickinson’s use of meter, metaphors, and dashes in her poetry execute the purpose and theme of this poem.…

    Heartless Poem Analysis

In the song “Heartless”, Kanye uses a slow, sentimental beat while carrying on an auto tune sound that would be very uplifting. A slow heartbeat-like beat in the background, after the first few seconds a fast paced piano comes in. The rapping starts to pick up its pace and the lyrics get sadder. Kanye Wests Heartless has been considered a masterpiece, and in my opinion it has been. Various artists had rarely used the auto-tuned sound, and Kanye brings it back with recent album “The College Dropout” and more in “808’s and Heartbreak”.…

The main idea conveyed in the first stanza is being desperate for freedom. In the poem, the speaker implies that the bird is desperate because it is able to see the beauty and nature of the outside world, but the bird is unable to experience it. The speaker describes the "wind [stirring] soft" and the river flowing "like a stream of glass." These images that the speaker creates makes it for the reader to believe that the bird is desperate to soar through the beauty the world has to offer and not be stuck inside a cage.…

When looking at contemporary literature from a philosophical point of view, one can often find truths that give us a greater understanding and awareness of our surroundings, literature allows us to expand our knowledge in a deeper, more connected way. Similar to this, Cassandra Clare, a poet from Tehran, Iran, once said that “Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry.” In that light, Kaveh Akbar, a poet also from Tehran, shares a similar philosophy on literature exemplifying the idea that place can shape and influence one's truths. Akbar epitomizes this ideology in his poem, “River of Milk,” which argues that in order to experience real truths, one must go through the process and experience of breaking down and re-evaluating parts of themselves and others and through these truths, a society becomes more united and more connected than before. Early on in the poem, the speaker says “...my body burned /…

    A New Story Poem Analysis

The true Native American culture died long ago, leaving only the aspects that white people can embrace in order to deny that they forced the death and assimilation of Native Americans. Native American culture has become lifeless culture losing everything but what the dominant culture deems to be profitable. The binding classification of being a Native American in a society where Native American culture is devalued and made into costumes forces the modern Native American to play a part in America’s romanticized Indian culture festival or to blend in with the crowd. As seen in “The Real Indian Leans Against” and “A New Story”, Native American culture has not survived because whites deem it worthless, forcing its members into assimilation and submission.…

In my English 30-1 course students such as myself were given the opportunity to select pieces of poetry that spoke to them. I personally chose the song “The Dog Days Are Over” by Florence and The Machine. The first time this song met my ears was when a friend plugged their iPhone into my truck speakers as we drove down a gravel road to our destination which was a campground. After listening politely as small rain drops began to fall on my windshield I was met with the questioning eyes of my friend on if I had enjoyed the song. As their eyes questioned my belief I was hit by a sudden truth the fact that I hadn’t enjoyed the song.…

    The Victims Poem Analysis

    • 1110 Words

Upon initial reading, “The Victims” by Sharon Olds seems to be a poem that paints the picture of a life of abuse; starting from the dawning of the exploitation and arching over into the life of the abused following the maltreatment. In the work, it is made to be believed that the clear victims of the poem are the speaker and their family—which is a rightful and obvious assumption—but there is another victim that is not as prevalent as that of the speaker and their family: the speaker’s father. After a second read, it is made evidently apparent that although the work does focus on the speaker and their family as the victims of the poem, the ideal that the father is also a victim is explored. Since the father is depicted as an abuser, it is seen…

Poems exists for sharing an experience, telling a story, and are precious journeys to be shared. In the poem “The Day” by Geoffrey Brock functions perfectly in this way, sharing his view of life by comparing it to a transitory plum hanging on a stem. He describes a scene of a young man trying to capture a ripe plum. He comments on the element of time and truly is a masterpiece for readers. With some similarities to a sonnet Brock raises two components in his poem about life and morality.…

A Critical Analysis of Richard Siken’s Crush Crush by Richard Siken is a phenomenal collection of poems that uses confessionalism to explore the speaker 's experiences with love and homosexuality. Siken uses strong imagery and diction to discuss the themes of abuse, love, and violence throughout the collection. For this essay I chose to analyze two of Siken’s poems “ A Primer for the Small Weird Loves” and “The torn-up road” . In both poems Siken is able to convey very powerful messages, and he uses his poetic ability to transform so much violence and abuse into beautiful art in the form of poetry. “ A Primer for the Small Weird Loves” epitomizes the struggle of a coming of age gay man/boy.…
